First Extras Work - Yellow Face

Hi everyone! I've got an update for you today :) I've tried to make it into an approximated timeline!

4:00 A.M. : Alarm clock buzzes. Snoozed for 10 minutes.
4:10 A.M. : Shower
4:35 A.M. : Get ready - makeup, hair, get dressed
5:15 A.M. : Leave the apartment to drive to L.A.
6:30 A.M. : Shell gas fill-up, french vanilla cappuccino caffeine necessity, and Carl's Jr. breakfast stop - spicy chicken sandwich and small fries
6:45 A.M. : Waiting in the level 3 parking structure of East Los Angeles College. My call time was 8:00 A.M. - Better early than late!
7:30 A.M. : Walk to set. Sit around and wait to be called.
9:00 A.M. : Called on set for first scene. This goes on for four hours with two 15-minute breaks.
12:30 P.M. : Sit around and wait. Outfit change for the next scene.
1:15 P.M. : Lunch time - catered food - BBQ ribs, chicken, mac&cheese, veggie burgers, hotdog and buns, watermelon, assorted veggies, mashed potatoes, etc.
1:30 P.M. : Call my friend to complain how I fail to make new acquaintances - painfully shy/scared
2:15 P.M. : Called back to set. Sit around and wait to be called.
3:00 P.M. : Called for next scene. Three takes and we're done :) Break time again. Outfit change for the next scene.
3:20 P.M. : Called for next scene. Few takes and we're done!
3:45 P.M. : It's a wrap for me!

I basically brought a LOT of clothes and it paid off! I went through three very different outfits for the three scenes. I also got to work with awesome actors - principals and extras both! Sorry, I didn't get any pictures. I do have my Facebook updates throughout the shoot!

8:31am: Reading a historical romance while I wait to be called by the costume designer. Woe, back in the day, if a woman was kissed by an unmarried man, she's ruined for life. How utterly ridiculous!

8:50am: I've got a cheeky grin. Costume designer just came to look at our clothes. I get to stay in the exact same outfit I'm wearing now. That's a nice boost to my self-esteem :) thank God for this awesome coat!

11:13am: You know you love your job when you don't get bored just sitting around waiting for your cue or doing the same thing a million times. Do what u love; don't let other people dictate your life.

Anyway, I'm excited to go on my next project! Hopefully they will start coming in more often by beginning of next year.

Future projects: I am recruiting two female actor friends to help me recreate a scene in one of the books I read. Possibly more projects in the future if time permits with the filmmaker.

UPDATE: OH MY GOSH. I just did a Google search on the actor we worked with today on set. He was Christopher Gorham: Piper Perabo's Co-star in Covert Affairs in the USA Network!!! Practically next door to White Collar - my favorite show!!! I feel so bad I didn't know who he was and didn't get to talk to him! I'm kind of mad at myself for being so shy! *sigh* Lesson learned. Talk to anyone and everyone, you never know who you're talking to.

Last Day With Vivia Font

Today was our final for my acting class with Vivia Font. It was great to see everyone's improvements after all of our rehearsals. I'm really proud of everyone.

Enjoy this video of random footage of the after-party and some classmate interviews and an interview with Vivia!

It was great working with all of you! Thank you for being wonderful and for inspiring me to become a better actor! Thank you, Vivia, for your enthusiasm and brilliant exercises. You believed in us even when some of us were too afraid to try. You kept encouraging until we realized our potential. THANK YOU!

November Update

Hi everyone! I just wanted to give you a little update on my progress with my acting class.

If you read my last post, Mr. Bob had finally left us for the semester. He said he will be back again next year, but I'm already graduating this year.

Anyway, I've been making good progress with the 10-minute play "That All of Us Should be Fed" that was assigned to us from the beginning of the semester.

At first, the play was boring and really dull. However, Vivia Font have motivated us and given us great pointers that helped me and my partner to live in the moment and become our characters. I'm really proud of myself for improving. I still get very nervous even though I know every single person in the room and we've done it before.

Here's to hoping I'd get a picture with Ms. Vivia at the end of the semester. We just have 3 more classes to go. I wish we had more time with her. I'll see if I can stay in contact with her after this semester. That would be awesome.

A Little Souvenir

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've updated you on what's been going on. Nothing much have happened since the last time. I've just been working on my comedy monologue, which is proving to be an incredible challenge.

On November 4, I have an audition for a variety of plays and I will be using my comedy monologue. I sure hope I master it in a week.

Finally, October 25 was Mr. Bob's last day with us for this year. He is going to Los Angeles to do a play and we can't be happier for him. As a little souvenir, I printed out my picture with him last year and asked him to sign it. At the beginning of class, a bunch of people got together and bought him some muffins and brownies. He was very touched to say the least.

Thank you, Mr. Bob, for all that you've taught us!

"That All Of Us Should Be Fed" Set!

Today, we finally got to work with our new professor, Vivia Font! She won't be officially with us until November, but she stopped by to help us block our 10-minute play :) I was so excited to work with her! Surprisingly enough, I was able to focus on the task at hand. I really wanted to be the kind of actor that Matt Bomer is: COMMITTED and PROFESSIONAL.

So, below is our set for now. I was excited to take a picture, too! (That's Vivia sitting on the side!)

Vivia's enthusiasm is very contagious. Her passion just oozes out of her. It's amazing! I feel so lucky that we get to work with such incredible actors!

Assigned Short Play + Comedic Monologue

Last week, I was assigned the short play that I was to work on for Mr. Foxworth's class. I quite like it. I enjoy historical time periods and it was interesting that I was assigned this play. The time period was dull and simple, and therefore, less was more. I'm excited to start working on it!

...Obviously my hands (and mind) were idle and they drifted off to Matt Bomer... :)

I've also chosen my comedic monologue last week for my independent study class. I will be playing the character Monica from the short play Quiet Torrential Sound. I thought the character was really interesting :)

Whew! This semester is B-U-S-Y!

Character Analysis for Monologue #1

Hi everyone! I just thought I'd update you all on the progress of my independent study class.
  • I'm finally enrolled in the class.
  • The class is called Audition Preparation.
  • I meet with my adviser every two weeks. So, we have two Thursdays each on September and October. I don't know what goes after that.
  • My first monologue is from the play Flipzoids by Ralph B. Pena. I really suggest reading it. It's a powerful play.
  • I've already memorized the monologue. I still struggle about what to do with myself. Do I stand still? Do I pace? What mannerisms does my character have? What do I do with my hands?!!!

I think I've also found my comedic monologue, thanks to my rehearsal class with Mr. Robert Foxworth. I will talk about that in a different post.

Oh, and finally, since it is Tuesday, I got another chance to chat with Marsha Thomason on Twitter! Seriously, I feel so lucky when she replies to my tweet. I'm such a nerd :)

My Dramatic Monologue

Today was the second day for my acting class. We discussed things that we observed around us in the past week or so. I talked about my observation of people, especially in business, that twist the truth as a means to an end. It's amazing how someone will say what they want to say even though it is false and they know it. Anyways, the whole discussion lasted an hour and a half. Next week, we will start reading the scripts that we will be working on this semester. I'm quite excited for that!

Today was also my first meeting with my independent study adviser. I was happy to report that I've found the dramatic monologue that I will be working on this semester. It is from the play called FLIPZOIDS by Ralph B. Pena. I can really relate to the character and I felt like it was my story, too. Needless to say, I'm excited to be working on this monologue.

First Day Of Acting Class + #WhiteCollar Chat

Today was my first day of class with Robert Foxworth. This is the second time I will be taking his class. I'm looking forward to honing my craft and learning from him this semester. I'm also looking forward to the plays that we would be working on this semester.

Check out this photo I subtly took while waiting for the class to start.

If you don't know who Robert Foxworth is, click here.

On another note, since today is Tuesday, I got to chat yet again with the wonderful Marsha Thomason! I feel so lucky that I get to chat with her on Twitter!

Lastly, I will be meeting with my adviser this Thursday to talk about my independent study in theater. I've already chosen the play Flipzoids by Ralph Pena as my dramatic piece. I'm excited to get some practice and have my monologues ready by the time I graduate in December!

Live Chat with Marsha Thomason from White Collar!

Yesterday, a new episode of White Collar premiered. Since I live in the West Coast, I couldn't watch it with people on the East Coast, not to mention I had no cable to begin with. There was, however, a live Twitter chat with Marsha Thomason who plays Diana in the show. I didn't expect replies from her, so I was pleasantly surprised when she replied to a few of my tweets. Fan Moment...

My favorite tweet?

Pray that my dream will come true one day, and I would get to work with the amazing cast and crew of White Collar!
